Rising majestically within Arusha National Park, Mount Meru stands proudly as Tanzania's second-highest peak and the fifth tallest in Africa. Frequently chosen as the ideal warm-up for Kilimanjaro, Meru offers a more technical and thrilling ascent, rewarding climbers with an adventure that is both challenging and deeply fulfilling.

Over the course of a three-day trek, adventurers journey through rich and varied landscapes alive with wildlife. Encounters with giraffes, buffalos, antelopes, and playful baboons add a rare and unforgettable dimension to the experience, blending mountain trekking with the magic of a true African safari.

To ensure safety and enhance your journey, a professional park ranger accompanies you throughout the trek, offering guidance, expertise, and fascinating insights into the mountain's natural wonders. ITINERARY

DAY-1
ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO HOTEL IN ARUSHA

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our friendly, experienced driver-guides. After a short introduction, you will be escorted to Arusha for your overnight stay at your reserved hotel or lodge.

Your guide will introduce you to this peaceful country and its tourism city. Kibo Palace Hotel, our partner, is one of the best affordable luxury hotels with comfortable beds, an attractive garden, and attentive staff. If time permits, enjoy a complimentary short city tour with your guide. ACCOMMODATION: KIBO PALACE HOTEL

DAY-2
ARUSHA TO NGONGONGARE GATE – TREK TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT

Trek through the lush fig tree forest on your way to Miriakamba Hut, a scenic journey of approximately 5 hours. Along the trail, pause for a relaxing picnic lunch and take in the refreshing beauty of the Moiyo Waterfall, one of the route's most picturesque highlights.

After covering roughly 14 km (8.6 miles), you'll arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m / 8,248 ft), where a warm dinner and a peaceful overnight stay await. ACCOMMODATION: MIRIAKAMBA HUT

DAY-3
MIRIAKAMBA HUT TO SADDLE POINT

After breakfast, set out on a 4-hour trek toward the scenic Saddle Point, where a well-prepared lunch awaits. After enjoying your meal, take a 2-hour rest to relax and acclimatize.

In the afternoon, embark on a rewarding side trek to Little Meru (3,820m / 12,533 ft)—an excellent acclimatization hike offering stunning panoramic views.

Return to Saddle Hut (3,566m / 11,712 ft) for dinner and overnight stay. ACCOMMODATION: SADDLE HUT

DAY-4
SADDLE POINT – MERU PEAK – RETURN TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT

At midnight, you'll be awakened with tea and cookies, ready to start your exhilarating climb to Meru Peak (4,562m / 15,967 ft). Setting off from Rhino Point, you'll tackle a thrilling 8 km (5 mi) ascent, reaching the summit at sunrise for incredible photo opportunities.

After descending to Saddle Hut for brunch and a short rest, continue your trek in the afternoon, finishing with dinner and overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m / 8,248 ft). Today's journey covers approximately 15 km (9.3 miles). ACCOMMODATION: MIRIAKAMBA HUT

DAY-5
MIRIAKAMBA HUT – RETURN TO ARUSHA

Descend 9 km (5.6 miles) to Momella Headquarters via the scenic Jiwe la Lami route, where your driver-guide will be waiting to welcome you back.

Before returning to Arusha, enjoy a brief game drive in Arusha National Park, offering one last chance to spot diverse wildlife. You'll then be transferred to your reserved accommodation, marking the perfect conclusion to your unforgettable Mount Meru adventure. ACCOMMODATION: KIBO PALACE HOTEL
